SuperAnalog909

Super punchy, warm, analog drums with Round Robin Layering. Using high-end outboard and a compulsive attention to detail... this 909 sample set is pure analog drum heaven.

Why have I created another TR-909 sample set?

I thought I could offer something a little different. This sample pack has been recorded at a higher sampler rate and has extensive Round Robin treatment to recreate the feel and movement of an analog drum machine (Maschine can't utilise round robin yet). The Tape909 used tape to give it extra mojo... this time I have used some rather tasty outboard, including: The Thermionic Culture Fat bustard II valve mixer, ez1073-500 pre/eq, A-Design EM-PEQ, Moog 500 series ladder filter, DIYRE 500 series Colour Palette, SPL TwinTube, UBK Fatso. Plus various guitar pedals.

What is Round Robin? This is a function of some samplers where you can alternate between a number of different samples when a drum sound is triggered. I think this a good way to help capture the movement and feel of analog drum machines.

The Maschine version of the SuperAnalog909 does not utilise the round robin samples in this pack as Maschine does not have this feature yet. However if Maschine one day gets this functionality then the samples are there ready to implement it!

Will 96 kHz samples work in 44.1 kHz projects? Short answer... Yes they will. Long answer... DAWs and software samplers have real time sample rate converters. So it won't matter what sample rate your samples are at. Of course if your project is running at 96 kHz then these samples will certainly sound much better!

What kind of outboard was used for sweetening? The Thermionic Culture Fat bustard II valve mixer, ez1073-500 pre/eq, A Design EM-PEQ, Moog 500 series ladder filter, DIYRE 500 series Colour Palette, SPL TwinTube, UBK Fatso. Plus various guitar pedals.

Are there 909 drum samples without extra processing? Yes indeed. I have included a large number of raw samples.

Is the SuperAnalog909 better than the Tape909? Yes and no. I think they have different strengths. The Tape909 has got that lovely old school tape vibe and a huge palette of 909 sounds. The SuperAnalog909 has 96Hz sample rate, Round Robin layering and tasty analog outboard sweetening.

You will need the full Retail version of Kontakt 5 to use the Kontakt patches. This product will only work in demo mode in the free Kontakt Player.
